After the wonderful calmbirth®
training from Sue I went into labour at
5.30pm on my birthday. At first I wasn't
really sure I was in labour as
previously (1st baby) I had had regular
surges 12 to 15min apart for up to 4
hours so I wanted to wait for regular
surges before doing anything.
Surges were 6 minutes apart as I blew
out my birthday cake candles with my
3.5yr old.
An hour later we had them at 5 minutes
apart.
At 7.30pm we moved to 4.5 minutes apart
-- I rocked on my fit ball during the
surges and was really enjoying the fact
that our new baby would soon be with us.
At 9.30pm they were 4 minutes apart and
it was here that we got our daughter
picked up by friends. They were quite
surprised to see me doing the dishes in
between surges, but I was upright and I
really wanted to enjoy the whole
experience.
At 10.30pm the surges were 3 minutes
apart and about double the intensity.
After a few conversations with the
Midwives at the hospital we went in, we
got there about 11.40pm.
When I started vomiting - this to me was
a sign of transition, as this was what
happened when I had my daughter also.
I had John organise the TENS machine and
got ready to bear down – Our
obstetrician arrived at this point. Not
soon after at 2.12am our beautiful
daughter was born.
