My husband Jarrad
and I attended your classes last year.
We loved your classes. The technique
definitely helped.
We have a beautiful baby boy named Max.
He arrived 2 weeks late on the 22nd Aug
2008. Reluctantly, I had to be induced.
Max didn’t want to come out and my
obstetrician didn’t want me to go beyond
14 days. He was very kind and knew my
wishes for a natural birth with no
interference. He let me go as long as I
could. I laboured naturally for 15 hours
using the calmbirth® techniques. I
listened to the CD’s every night pretty
much leading up to the birth. I also was
lucky enough to have a midwife who had
read the calm birth manual and was happy
to talk in "calm birth speak" during my
labour, so that was great.
After 15hrs, the doctor said that I
hadn't dilated much at all and they
could feel that Max was posterior and
stuck. This made me a bit nervous. I
lost focus a bit because I didn’t know
how much longer I could keep going
(calmly). After a long discussion and a
few tears, I agreed to an epidural to
see if that would help. I was so tired
and worried for Max's wellbeing. After
several more hours, he still wouldn’t
come out, so I it was suggested that I
would "need some help". I didn't want my
doctor to use the words "caeser",
"emergency" or "quickly", as I thought
it might make me panic. I was very
scared, but just made Jarrad talk to me
the whole time and I kept saying to
myself, "it’s the best thing for Max"
and " I tried my best". So at 10pm that
night, Max was born. 9.6 pounds. He went
straight for the breast. Yep, he was a
big boy at birth. He is now nearly
10mths and weighs 12.5 kgs. I am still
breastfeeding 3- 4 times a day. Max is
the love of my life.
I am told constantly how chilled out and
happy Max is and I do think it had
something to do with calmbirth® and the
fact that I was studying massage whilst
pregnant. I have never felt so happy and
full of love, as when Max was born. It’s
unbelievable. I think I am a better
person.
Jarrad was great during the lead up, on
the day and every day since. He is a
wonderful dad. The best! He was very
calm, cool and collected on the day and
took the lead with the ipod music,
massaging me, directing midwifes as to
my wishes and just generally being
encouraging and loving.
He was very brave watching the caeser. I
think he looked at the crucial moment
when Max was coming out! He kept talking
to me through the whole thing, saying "
I am so proud of you Bri... you can do
it"..." I love you"....He stroked my
hair and wiped my brow. I remember him
being right next to my ear.
I still practice calmbirth® breathing
and have recommended you to others; in
fact, I think you taught friends of
ours. They speak highly of you too.
Thank You,
Briony.
